The story of Christmas; December 14: (Luke 1:56-66) "Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home. When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, "No. He will be called John." But they answered her, "There is no one among your relatives who has this name." So they made signs asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, "John is his name," and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, "What, then, will this child be?" For surely the hand of the Lord was with him."
Our story:. Another beautiful, sunny, 50 degree December Day. You can bet we found our way to the park today! When it was time to get in the car, one of the kids shouted, "Last one in the car is a rotten egg!" I remember that from my childhood and it made me laugh. While we were at home, today was one of those days where I felt like I spent all day in the kitchen; late breakfast, snack, early lunch, then snack again after the playground. The kids wrote letters for their sweet friend Maisy Linn. 💛 This evening, the kids, Zach and I got ready, because we had something to celebrate, as today is Mimi and Paps 36th Wedding Anniversary! Evie wanted to wear her "golden dress and her fashion boots." We made some homemade cards today with our painted fingerprints, and handprints for Mimi and Pap.
Other than feeling like the kids were heard for miles, dinner was good and I'm thankful to celebrate such an important milestone. I consider Zach and I to be pretty fortunate to have parents (his and mine) that are still together. We are very proud of our parents for their commitment and hard work that marriage requires.❤️
We looked at Christmas lights on our way home which never gets old.
Once we got home, Daddy fixed Santa for the millionth time while I got the kids ready for bed. He keeps blowing a fuse. It made for a great homeschool lesson on fuses and electricity. Xander asked me today about fuses and I saved that lesson for Daddy.😁 More days than not, I notice Xander's mind and strengths are a lot like Zachs. I hope we can feed his inquiries and interests in a way that provides him with a continued fascination for learning. Daddy says, "Santa is brighter and more efficient now." 😂 We're hoping he doesn't fall face first on the deck anymore.
"Last one to sleep is a rotten egg!"
